Loosely deposited transport
Approximately 4,5 months a year we take part in the sugar beet campaign. This type of transport is very labour-intensive and requires us to participate 24 hours a day, 6,5 days a week. We load in the south of the Netherlands and parts of Belgium and Germany, and unload at the SuikerUnie factory in Dinteloord, where the sugar is extracted from the beets. The remaining product, beet pulp, will be loaded again and shipped to farmers to be used as fodder. We participate in this type of transport since 1950!
Moreover, Van Uden-Bekx Transport participates in Agro Transport Zuid(ATZ), the main contractor for the south of the Netherlands in the area of sugar beet transport. This company provides the planning of all trucks in our region concerned with shipping sugar beets. For more information we refer you to www.atzbv.nl.
On top of our regular activities, Van Uden-Bekx Transport also engages in loosely deposited transport. We use a special type of trailers for this activity, the walking-floor. This trailer unloads its freight by using its moving floor, powered by hydraulics. The advantage of a walking-floor trailer is that it is safer than a tippler. Because of their ability to unload horizontally, they are far less likely to fall over. Another advantage is that unloading in a regular warehouse is possible with a walking-floor. These trailers can also be used for shipping raw materials for industrial purposes.
In order to be able to work efficiently, we keep improving our processes. Even after fifty years of experience, we believe improvement is possible. A good example is our cooperation with Knapen Trailers in order to develop a special trailer for our loosely deposited products. This trailer is lightweight, extremely manoeuvrable and rewards us with an optimal return. Therefore, we can unload at every location, even if space is limited.
